HAMLET: By the end of Act I, Hamlet has come in contact with the ghost of his father and within Act II will begin to solve his problems. He plans to avenge his father somehow, and informs Horatio and Marcellus that he will act crazy in order to find a way to take advantage of Claudius. He finally decides that he will put on a play that is very similar to how his father died to try and out Claudius in his guilt.
Polonius is worried about the reputation of his son, so he sends Reynaldo to giving him very detailed, quite redundant directions on spying on Laertes. Meanwhile, Polonius goes to the king saying that Hamlet is madly in love with his daughter, Ophelia, and needs to test the judgement. He plans to eavesdrop on a meeting between Hamlet and Ophelia to find out if his madness is derived from his obsession with her.
